CAFTA - Advancing Liberalization of Agri-Food Trade

CAFTA’s core mandate is to advance multilateral liberalization of agriculture and agri-food trade through the progressive reduction of trade distorting protection and support. CAFTA supports agricultural negotiations at the WTO as the best forum for achieving global and reciprocal gains in international trade and examines Regional and bilateral Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on a case-by-case basis.

CAFTA supports free trade discussions to eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers. CAFTA’s work has primarily focused on multilateral, regional and bilateral trade agreements such as the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement, Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership, European Union-Canada Comprehensive and Economic Trade Agreement, World Trade Organization, Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement.
