Canadian Agri Food Trade Alliance

What We Do

CAFTA’s core mandate is to advance multilateral liberalization of agriculture and agri-food trade through the progressive reduction of trade distorting protection and support. CAFTA supports agricultural negotiations at the WTO as the best forum for achieving global and reciprocal gains in international trade and examines Regional and bilateral Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on a case-by-case basis.

CAFTA supports free trade discussions to eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers. CAFTA’s work has primarily focused on multilateral, regional and bilateral trade agreements such as the WTO, Canada-Korea, Canada-Europe and Transpacific Partnership agreements.
